THE PRESTON HOLLOW STUDIOS STORY
I'm Martha, a reformed banker who decided to take classes in the arts when I retired. Nobody warned me how addictive that can be, so several years later there I was with several kilns and a pottery studio, making silver jewelry, and dabbling in glass work on the side. I began to enter and show in juried art shows in both ceramics and silver jewelry, and later became a certified instructor in metal clay silver. I continue to study at arts centers across the country in multiple mediums. While we enter just a handful of art shows each year, we've added this online gallery at the request of repeat customers.
My husband, Gary, has always been a wood craftsman, making fine furniture, turning bowls and vessels, and handcrafting amazing wood art objects in his spare time. He loves mixing different wood textures and colors which offset and contrast each other, enhancing the beauty of both. Many of his pieces are painstakingly hand-planed.
What's next? We're taking a break this fall after a very busy summer. Watch for us both on the North Dallas Artist Studio Tour in April, 2019. Find out more at northdallasart.com.
